📃Safeguarding Risk Assessment Completed✔️
A huge amount of unseen work goes into running a GAA club. It has been a busy few weeks for Childrens Officers around the country as clubs completed their Safeguarding Risk Assessments. These assessments are carried out every two years and examine all aspects of the services we provide in our club from a safeguarding perspective. If these are not in place then we as a club cannot operate. We would like to express our thanks to our own Children’s Officer Sharon Newsome for all her work in getting these complete and green lights from Croke Park ✅

Reminder that Sharon has organised a Safeguarding Face to Face course on Tuesday 20th May , please register below if not already done:

💓Dillon Quirke Screening  - Wednesday, 11th June 2025
As announced last week, we are delighted that we have received a date for heart screening for the club for our young players through the Dillon Quirke Foundation

This foundation is set up in memory of Dillon Quirke who passed away aged 24 while hurling for his club in Tipperary.  In his memory, the Dillon Quirke Foundation is a registered charity working to raise awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) and fund widespread cardiac screening for young people (aged 12-18) involved in sport.
On average, Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) takes 100 young lives in Ireland every year. Cardiac screening can help prevent SADS by identifying heart conditions at an early stage – before they cause symptoms.

Screening for Ardclough Camogie, Straffard LGFA & Straffan Camogie was completed in June 2024 and we are delighted to now offer this to the hurling and football teams in the club.

We are inviting players between the ages of 12-18 for screening on the 11th June.

We would really appreciate a contribution of €20 per player on the day for the cardiac screening. All money raised will go to the Dillon Quirke Foundation. There will be card machines available on the day for you to donate an amount. You will see below that it costs €100 for each screening and they rely solely on donations and fundraising. If you have Laya Healthcare they will cover the cost of screening.

Please use below link to book :

Huge thanks to the K-Club for making rooms available for the screening. There are 45 places available, we know it’s falling at a bad time for our exam students but if there is a demand for the service we will apply again to see if we can get another date in the future.

You can find more details below about the foundation and how you can support them at the link below:

There are also jerseys available with Dillons logo on the front, now available for all counties.

🏐Festival of Football – U11
Save the date – our Festival of Football will take place this year on 14th June. We will have full details soon of teams and start times . This is the 2nd year of the blitz and there is great work underway behind the scenes already and its shaping up to be another fantastic day.

Last year saw 150 young footballers play in Ardclough.

🏐Tom Cross Junior Championship Draw
The draw for the football championship takes place on Friday May 23rd at 6pm. The draws will be broadcast live on Kfm Radio, with local media representatives in attendance on the evening.

🏐🏑On the pitch this week
What a start to last Friday ! Our 2 x U12 hurling teams had great wins in their final round of fixtures with the D4 team winning against Maynooth 4-3 to 2-3 and our D1 team winning 4-7 to 2-2 against Leixlip. Both teams have now secured a semi-final place. It is a fantastic result but even better to see the numbers playing and having 2 teams represent our club at U12💪

Saturday was full football as our Feile boys had an early start to the day. Absolutely gorgeous morning and wonderful welcome from Rathcoffey🤗. They were super hosts with music pumping, shop open and a great atmosphere, exactly what Feile is all about 👏

On the field our Feile F team were unlucky to lose their 2 games against Rheban and Moorefield after a strong start.

Our Feile D team had great success over on the other pitch with the team reaching the semi-finals on Sunday morning in Clane which they won against Castlemitchell. They played Naas in the final on Sunday afternoon eventually losing 2-11 to 2-3.

We are very proud of all our players , well done to them all 👏👏👏

Meanwhile back at Go Games our U7 footballers travelled to St Kevins and our U9s had a fab game against Cappagh👏👏. Our U11s were so excited they got their match in early the previous Wednesday 😝 !

Sunday was an early start for our U12 teams as they headed down to Longford to Clonguish GAA for the Andrew Jackson Memorial Tournament. 25 players made the trip and played teams from Dublin, Longford, Galway, Leitrim and Cavan. Both teams made it to a semi-final and one qualified for the cup final playing Athenry who won out in the end.  A fantastic day , these are the days that the players remember – and the quick stops for Supermacs on the way home !

Another caption this moment for Sean here - we hope he's not singing the "listening song" 🙉🤣

While our U12s were off in Longford, back at home on Sunday morning 21 of our U8 hurlers lined out to play Naas in Ardclough – fab skills and great numbers💪 .

Our 10s hurlers travelled over to Clane with some great hurling on show like this free from Darragh, grandad very proud we reckon 💪

Our U11 camogs were on fire at home as they hosted Leixlip, Kilcullen and Cappagh. They are getting better and better each week they play. 🔥

Our senior hurlers in D3 finished out the weekend with a back game away to St Laurence’s who proved too strong on the night losing 3-17 to 2-13. Hard luck lads.

On Monday our U13 hurlers travelled to Rathdowney Errill for their Laois fixtures in D2, well done to the team on a great win 👏👏

Our U11camogs made the short trip to Straffan to play their friends in a great game.on Tuesday evening.  Thanks to Maria and U11 coaches for the invite and the jellies 🍬

On Tuesday our D2 senior hurlers travelled to Moorefield and secured a win 2-9 to 1-24, which sees them stay top of their division with one fixture remaining against Kilcock next week. 💪💪🤞🤞

Wednesday evening we had back to back fixtures on the main pitch with our U14 D4 team playing in a semi-final against Naas , winning 6-17 to 4-3, which sees them through to the finals against Clane likely to be the June bank holiday. Our Camogie U13 team then played Clane in D1 and were unlucky to lose 1-2 to 3-0 after a strong first half.

It was back to senior hurling on Thursday with the D3 team playing Éire Óg Corra Choill with a draw the final outcome, 3-17 to 4-14. With all our games played we sit in 2nd while we await the final round of fixtures next week.
