About the Programme

Electric Ireland Hurl with Me is a fantastic initiative for clubs to get involved in.

It is an inclusive programme with plenty of fun, providing clubs an opportunity to be able to upskill female adults to get involved with their club by taking part in the Hurl With Me. An opportunity to encourage adults to be able to hurl and practice camogie with their daughter learning their skills.

  • Clubs must nominate someone (this can be male or female) to undergo the Coordinator Training to deliver the 4-6 session back to the club.  You can sign up more than one person if you wish.

  • This co-ordinator training consists of 3 hours in person practical, and a programme online booklet will be circulated for the coordinator to deliver sessions back to the club.

  • The coordinator will be brought through practical session on how to deliver basic skills of camogie back to their club, and encourage other adults to learn these skills to practice with their children, encouraging retention.

  1. Hurl With Me Training Day – Cuala GAA, Dublin, Saturday 8th of March,12pm-3pm: https://www.universe.com/events/hurl-with-me-training-day-cuala-gaa-tickets-L5642N?unii-trigger-open=L5642N

The aim of this programme is to encourage parents and give them the opportunity to learn the basic skills of the game in a fun and supportive environment. By these female role models getting involved in the programme, we believe this should have an effect of increasing the younger girl’s interest in playing.

At the end of the 4–6 weeks there’s a National Blitz Day where all of the clubs who have taken part in the Hurl with Me Programme are invited to attend. It is a fun and exciting blitz where both the female parents/adults play a game of camogie, followed by the younger kids. Providing a fun day out for club members to play Camogie and encouraging participation for all ages!

For the longer term, by getting involved in the programme – this may well be the first step in a parent becoming more involved in the club through coaching or an officer role. The Camogie Association endeavours to see more females involved in all aspects of the sport!
